Beyond Jackson SC

We at JSC are focused on doing the best job we can for our members and coaches. We want our player to learn a lot about soccer and be proud of the organization that supports that endeavor. But we also know there are a lot of options in Portland and want our members to be aware of all of those options.

This list below tries to give options for players as they get older.

Other Recreational Playing Opportunities
MJCC hosts indoor winter leagues for rec teams.

Youth Development Programs (U8-10)

Competitive clubs in Portland all run youth development programs. They are year round programs that give players more opportunities to train and play games. Each club has its own philosophies and type of program. This is for players U8 to U10.

Competitive Soccer (or Classic Soccer) (U11 to U18)
Starting at U11, players can try out for a team that provides a more competitive environment. There are a number of clubs in Portland, each with its own philosophy of how its teams are run. Classic soccer goes from U11 to U18. Teams are run by professional coaches and go year round.

Oregon Olympic Development Program
Oregon ODP is a program designed for the best players in the state to compete on a regional level and try out for the Regional team and possibly the US National Team. This program is run based on calendar year born, usually starting about U12/13.

High School Varsity
All players attending Wilson HS or any other HS in Portland can tryout for the Varsity Soccer Team. Each program has a varsity team, junior varsity team, and junior varsity 2 team.

PCU runs a summer program for U14 to U18 players that trains twice a week and plays in at least 3 tournaments over the summer to help prepare players for the upcoming high school season.
